Welcome to Lakewood Athletic F.C

Employees of John A. Wood Ltd formed Lakewood Athletic F.C., in 1981, on whose grounds we have our playing pitches. After competing successfully in the Cork Inter House League and through the initiative of Jim Kelly, Noel Mullins and Denis Lucey it was decided to enter a team in the Cork AUL Junior League.
From 1981 to 1996, Lakewood was a junior club with one team.
In 1997, Denis Lucey and Donal O’Connor formed the Schoolboys section and since then the club has grown at an incredible rate.
The Schoolgirls started in 2000 and has grown considerably, mainly through Ger Cahill since then.
We amalgamated with Cork Rangers Ladies team in 2005, to provide Senior Ladies status for our Schoolgirls.
